About Nab’s Cool Zone

My dream was to send my daughter to college without the burden of excessive loans. Although that dream did not come true in her first year. I decided it would come true for her in subsequent years.  I decided to go out on faith and become a business owner, which would also be a gain for my daughter, as it would give her a taste of entrepreneurship. So, I decided to move quickly and open an Italian ice business for her.

First, I sat down with my daughter to discuss her interests and how she wanted to be involved. We brainstormed together, deciding on flavors we thought would be popular, ranging from classic lemon and cherry to unique combinations like mango-pineapple. We even thought of a few recipes that would have a personal touch, inspired by our family.

Next, I researched the necessary permits and licenses required to start a food business in our area. It took some time, but I learned about health regulations, food safety, and the importance of quality ingredients. After securing all the legal aspects, we set out to find the best equipment. We traveled to Philadelphia and met with a few Italian ice distributors. Shout out to Famous Italian Ice on E. Lehigh Ave in Philadelphia, PA. They provided so much invaluable information.

I didn’t embark on this entrepreneurial journey alone; I was fortunate to have the unwavering support and invaluable assistance of my lifelong friend from childhood.

Through this experience, not only is my daughter gaining entrepreneurial skills, but we’re also creating lasting memories together. I’m proud of her determination and can’t wait to see how far she’ll go, both in business and in her studies!
